Fauvist Portraits

The first through fourth grade students looked at work by the Fauvist artists who were called "the wild beasts" by an art critic because of their spontaneous brush strokes and use of unnatural colors. They took turns posing for a partner to draw portraits with oil crayon.

Some children who finished their portraits went on to other subject matter with the oil crayons.
