India ink is a wonderful medium because of the rich blacks and numerous grays. Sometimes the artist finds that the water is doing much of the work, moving the pigment in ways that couldn't be done deliberately. The children used this technique to illustrate Joanna's EB story, as well as creating imagery from their own imaginations. To me, ink paintings have a poetic quality, and it is refreshing to work without thinking about color. One less thing to deal with!
