Animal Portraits

I copied photos from a book titled Animal Portraits by Walter Schels, so that the students could carefully observe the shapes, dark and light values, and textures, and render them with charcoal on gray paper. They are learning how to work with compressed charcoal, vine charcoal, charcoal pencils, white charcoal pencils, kneadable erasers, and chamois cloth with powdered charcoal.
