Mythology

For the mythology theme the 1/2 grade students are looking at a Rajasthani trickster tale in a book called Gobble You Up, along with other myths that have imagery of living things inside other living things, such as Jonah and the Whale, Little Red Riding Hood, Maurice Sendak's Pierre, and employing the illustration style by Gita Wolf to make drawings. In India she paints on mud walls in a technique that mothers teach to their daughters.  We used black and white markers on brown paper to achieve a similar effect.
