We explored the drawing style of Tejubehan, an artist from India. You can read about her book and the new publishing company called Tara Books on Brainpickings:

I tried something I've never done before which was to read the book to the children, then demonstrate her patterning techniques and have the students follow along with a clipboard, pen, and paper. It enabled them to practice and understand her vocabulary. They went on to use what they learned from her and invent their own language for drawing. Black markers and white paper are wonderful materials for children in grades 1-4.
What a fascinating artistic style. Very neat to see all the different things the kids did with that technique.
