The kindergarten through second grade students have been tearing and cutting paper and gluing the pieces to create compositions. We practiced ripping with the grain of the paper to get straight line tears and against the grain resulting in organic shapes. I showed the students illustrations by Leo Lioni and Ezra Jack Keats for inspiration. It's hard to believe I didn't show them the Matisse paper cut outs when looking at the work by Alex who is in kindergarten!
The fifth/sixth grade students are taking turns modeling for the class during the month of the human body. They are painting the lines they see with black tempera paint and then adding color.
Such beautiful work, Tracy. I am always blown away by the leaf work in the common area too. Really gorgeous, and such fun for the kids!
ReplyDeleteI love all the work you post! It's so much fun to see all the pictures.
ReplyDeleteOne more comment, Emma said you would post a picture of her picture about feelings? Was that posted and maybe I missed it?
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE the idea of the collages and will collect stuff for them to bring in from home.
I cannot wait to see what my children have created! Looks so fun!
