The students are drawing self portraits with oil crayon as they observe their faces in a mirror. I selected colors for them so they could focus on skin and hair tones without getting distracted by intense colors. I demonstrated as I looked in the mirror, pointing out how the light creates shadows and highlights that give our faces form. It's fun to look at these photos of the children working and to see how they have captured the essence of themselves on paper!
