Dragons

As part of our school identity we are exploring dragons. I shared lots of information with the students about dragons in folklore. They often have serpentine bodies, bat like wings, long claws and scales. We discussed the different ways in which Western and Eastern cultures portray dragons, one as evil and the other as a benevolent creature. I put a piece of paper on the cork board and students went up to it one at a time to draw separate parts of a dragon, one drawing the head, one the body, one the wings, etc. Each class created a very different looking dragon. Then the children drew a few versions of a dragon in their sketchbooks in preparation for their oil crayon relief drawings.
