I demonstrated crayon techniques and encouraged the students to experiment on long sheets of paper taped to the tables. They learned to use the sides of crayons and and saw the dramatic difference in texture when newspaper was put underneath. I encouraged them to experiment with different lines, to draw lines going from light to dark, to gradate from light to dark with the sides of crayons, and to layer colors. This is in preparation for their "Song of Myself Drawings".
I always have Daniel describe one interesting thing he did in school each day. He mentioned this project as his interesting thing of the day. Thanks for posting the pictures.
